How to use the Twitter Video Downloader

Four steps, no account, nothing uploaded.

  1. Copy the post link

    Tap the share icon under the post and choose Copy link. On desktop, copy the address from the bar. Both x.com and the older twitter.com addresses work.

  2. Paste it and fetch

    Put the link in the box and press Fetch Video. The post must be public; protected accounts cannot be reached.

  3. Pick a resolution

    Each available rendition appears as its own button, labelled with its quality and bitrate so you can judge the trade-off.

Why are there several download buttons?

X encodes each video at multiple resolutions and serves whichever suits the viewer's connection. Rather than guess for you, this tool lists every rendition it finds with its quality and bitrate. The top button is the highest quality available; lower ones are smaller files that are easier to send in a message.

Can I download GIFs?

Yes. X does not actually store GIFs as GIF files — it converts them to short, silent MP4 loops. That is what you will download, and it plays in every video player while being far smaller than a real GIF would be.

Does this work on protected accounts?

No. A protected account's posts are only visible to approved followers, and this tool never signs in to X, so it can only reach posts that are already public to everyone. Protected, deleted and age-restricted posts all return an error.

Does this tool send my data to a server?

Yes. X does not let a web page read its media directly, so the link you paste is sent to our server, which resolves the video addresses and streams the file back to you. We keep nothing — not the link, not the video, and no record of what you fetched.

Is the quality reduced?

No. The file is passed through byte for byte, exactly as X serves it. Nothing is re-encoded or resized, so the top rendition here is identical to the best version X itself would play.

Is it free?

Yes, with no account and no daily cap. A modest per-visitor rate limit stops automated scripts using the service as free bandwidth, but ordinary use will never reach it.

Can I repost what I download?

Saving a video for your own viewing is generally fine. Reposting someone else's video as your own is not: the person who made it holds the copyright, and downloading it does not transfer any rights. If you plan to publish a clip, ask first and credit them.
